NEW! In 2022 we have launched a new initiative to further reunite our Congolese family!

We are seeking to reunite a family that was persecuted by the government and forced to flee.  One of them spoke up for women who were sexually assaulted.

In 2019 TBC helped bring 8 of the family members together, and recently another 9 family members have been found at a refugee camp in Burundi.

TBC is looking to partner with others to raise approximately $57K in order bring the family to Canada as soon as possible.

TBC’s History of Sponsorship

In 2015 news of the crisis in Syria began to reach the world, and in response Timberlea Baptist Church formed the BLT Refugee Committee to begin the process of sponsoring a family in need.  In early 2016 we sponsored and resettled two refugee families in HRM and are committed to walking with these families as they start a new life in Nova Scotia.

This initiative has sparked continued involvement in refugee sponsorship programs and understanding God's heart for those seeking safety, protection, and a home. In August 2018 Timberlea Baptist welcomed another family from Pakistan travelling through Thailand.

In 2019, we sponsored a Congolese family living in Burundi, and safely brought them to Halifax.

We are committed to caring for our community and we have had the privilege of expanding our community to include families in various countries around the world.
